Nancy Leshinsky is an emerging artist who has
exhibited in national as well as international juried exhibitions
including a show juried by Janet Bishop curator for the SFMOMA. In her work we see an emphasis on representational abstraction as well as Asian art.
In 1999 Nancy did studies at the home owned by celebrated northwest mystic painter Morris Graves and she continues to be inspired by the Northwest School tradition of art without borrowing from it to this day. Her loosely rendered paintings explore the spiritual multidimensionality of life as well as investigate the formal aspects of dimension based on actual places and living things.
In 2006 Nancy won the Bellingham Arts Commission city wide competition for her weathervane design titled "Beet Spirit". It is a 9'x4' beet that sits atop Bellingham's Depot Market Square clock tower. It is a nod to author Tom Robbins and his famous book "Jitterbug Perfume" as well as in fond memory of her grandmother who promised "eat your beets they'll make you pretty".
